I recently finished binge-watching the new show Dark on Netflix. It’s a German language show but has dubs and subs in several languages. Based in the small town of Winden, Germany it follows many characters whose lives are connected by fate and share many secrets amongst them. The crux of the story is a mysterious cave formation under one part of the city and its relation to a seemingly not-so-innocent nuclear power plant. Missing children and a father who takes his own life make it clear that not all is well in Winden, yet no one can figure out what’s going on.
The show possesses extremely nerve-racking and ominous music courtesy of Ben Frost. It certainly keeps you uneasy. Dark induces anxiety in the viewer and implores you to stay curious. It’s a mix of the metaphysical, psychological, and mysterious. It’s the best show I’ve seen in a while and I’m tempted to claim it is better than Stranger Things. Give a try. It’s harder to stop watching the further you go.
